Welcome to Bergeson Elementary School, home of the Bulldogs and the Capistrano Unified School District's premier Mandarin Immersion Program. We are so glad you are here and hope our website gives you a glimpse into what makes Bergeson such a special place to learn, grow, and belong.

 

Since our Mandarin Immersion Program began at Bergeson in 2011, it has grown into the only Transitional Kindergarten through Grade 12 Mandarin Immersion Program in Southern Orange County. Our students have the unique opportunity to become fluent in both Mandarin and English while developing the confidence, character, and leadership skills needed to thrive in an increasingly connected world.

 

At Bergeson, we believe learning another language is about so much more than speaking and reading. It is about building understanding, appreciating different cultures, and seeing the world through new perspectives. Through daily immersion in Mandarin and authentic experiences with Chinese culture and traditions, our students develop curiosity, empathy, and meaningful global connections. They learn to become thoughtful leaders who value diversity, think critically, and are prepared to make a positive difference wherever life takes them. Upon graduation, students earn the California State Seal of Biliteracy, recognizing their proficiency in two languages and opening doors to future opportunities in college, careers, and beyond.

 

While our Mandarin Immersion Program is what first draws many families to Bergeson, it is our caring school community that makes them feel at home. We understand that choosing the right school is one of the most important decisions you will make for your child, and we are honored that families trust us with that responsibility. Every day, our dedicated teachers and staff create engaging classrooms where students are challenged academically, supported emotionally, and encouraged to discover their unique strengths.

 

Our commitment to excellence extends across every subject. Bergeson students consistently achieve outstanding results in Mandarin, English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science while developing a lifelong love of learning. Beginning in Transitional Kindergarten, students also enjoy a high quality Visual and Performing Arts program where they learn to read music, play instruments, express themselves through dance and movement, and explore their creativity through the visual arts. These experiences help our students become confident communicators, creative thinkers, and collaborative problem solvers.

 

What truly makes Bergeson special, however, is our people. Our experienced teachers, dedicated staff, and incredible parent volunteers work together to create a warm, welcoming environment where every child is known, valued, and encouraged to succeed. Whether we are celebrating student achievements, gathering for school events, or supporting one another through everyday moments, the strong sense of family at Bergeson is something you can truly feel.
